Most days one or both of us bikes or walks to work -- basically we avoid our cars unless we have to haul our kids around after school or deliver heavy stuff. What you might not know is that we're sharing the love. Middle Davids Candles is pleased to report that one of our founders, Dan Catlin, will be serving as Vice President of the International Guild of Candle Artisans for the 2011-2012 term. The Guild (www.igca.net) was founded in 1965 and exists to promote quality and craftsmanship in candles and to educate both candlemakers and the public in safety and quality standards. Dan looks forward to serving the Guild, and expects to be involved in member communications and public relations in the coming year.

Let's Meet PBS KIDS In The Park -- Success!

We had a blast on Saturday, June 12th, 2010, downtown Indianapolis at Military Park. We had rain during setup, but it held off during the event, and other than temperatures approaching 90 degrees, it was a beautiful day.

During the event more than 500 kids joined us to learn a little about living green and making all natural candles - each one poured his or her own tea-light that we then rushed to an ice-chest so they would cure enough for the kids to take theirs home after the event.

It's hard to thank everyone who helped, but special thanks go to Jennifer Jones of WFYI, who was our point of contact throughout the planning and the big day. Also thanks to Alex, Tina and Nevada Dolbeare, who joined David, Dan, Charissa & Bethany Catlin at our tent. Thanks to Diane Tuttle, who covered our downtown Franklin shop. Thanks to Zoe for allowing most of the family to see her dance recital on video this year, and to Tauria for being our videographer so we didn't have to miss Zoe's big event! Finally, thanks to our many customers and friends who encouraged and helped us prepare for the event, and to all the kids, moms & dads, grandparents and friends who spent time with us on Saturday. You certainly "let there be light" with your friendly smiles and stories. Hope to see many of you again soon!
